Mark exhibits in the ART of RECOVERY show

A few years ago Mark's home was robbed. Two of thieves were sent to jail. Of the things returned were two of his cameras. On one of the memory cards were photos the thieves took of themselves. From these photos Mark made a painted photo series titles, "Thug". Selections from this series will be on display at the "Art of Recovery" exhibition at the Minnesota State Arts Board. The opening is April 20th, 2012. Come on down. Information is below.

Mark shoots Villa Rosa!

Last summer Mark shot the new rap group Villa Rosa. We thought the pics were for basic promotion but Villa Rosa's Muja Messiah and Maria Isa decided to put them on their new CD that came out in September of 2010.

Trampoline's Wisconsin Premiere!

My film, Trampoline, will have its Wisconsin Premeire at the Driftless Film Fest October 7th! The DFF is based in Baraboo and 4 towns in central Wisconsin. It is the brainchild of Nicholas Langholff to bring independent cinema to this part of the state. They are showing 67 films. Trampoline will play twice, once on Friday 10/7 at 9:15pm in Baraboo and on Saturaday 10/8 in Mineral Point. You can buy Tickets online as of September 29th, here is the link:Driftless Tickets. March on St.Paul

on Thursday June 30th, I marched on St. Paul. I was lucky to be inspired to make a sign that said, "Great Wealth=Great Responsiblity" Well, the press liked it and I go some attention on St.Paul Pioneer Press website,

Mark Wojahn will speak at the University of Minnesota-Duluth in Bohannon Hall, lecture room 90 on Tuesday 2/15 at 7pm. He will introduce and screen his film from 2003, What America Needs: From Sea to Shining Sea. He is looking forward to meeting with the students and conversing about the current state of America.

Film Festival Letters

So I have applied to a lot of film festivals with my latest film Trampoline. I think about 20 or so. Usually they cost around $50. So I am out about $950 as I have gotten into one so far. Most of the time you get a standard rejection letter, little or no personalization, maybe they type in your name. Well yesterday was a bit different, I received my first personalized rejection letter from the TRUE/FALSE fest. Here it is,

Hi Mark,

This note is to let you know that, despite our appreciation of Trampoline, we could not find a place for your film at this year's fest. We want to thank you deeply for sharing the film with us; having multiple filmmakers on staff, we know that post-production can be a strenuous time and that getting a film seen is a long road. We loved your look at the struggles faced by your film's family, you tell their story quite well and with great sympathy.

Please keep in mind that this is not in any way a reflection on the quality of your film: we are only able to program 6% of the films that we see in a given year, so of course we have many that we'd love to play but are simply not able to. Thanks again for sharing your work, and we hope to see more out of you in the future. All the best,

So nice to see that he actually said a few sentences in this letter THAT APPLIED TO MY FILM. I actually feel like they may have watched it. Well, that is my rant for today. Thanks TRUE FALSE I actually want to visit this festival because of your response.
